A student by day and a Phantom Thief by night, he is plagued by mysterious visions of a ruinous future. His initial Persona is Jánošík.

In this world being robbed of its spark, even the people walking by you in the city have lost their own desires. As you support them and build relationships, you can create an interaction of desires called Synergy and make bonds that positively impact both parties. Synergy nurtures desire, and those re-energized people can lend their strength to the protagonist in various ways. Interact positively with the people of the city to help them regain their lost desires!

Mementos is a cognitive Metaverse where the collective unconscious is made real. Its dark, ominous, and dilapidated state reflects the hearts of the masses: hope nowhere to be found with their desires robbed from them by an unknown figure. Instead, in this world lie strange enemies known as Shadows. A mysterious Metaverse Navigator app installed on the protagonist's phone allows its vastness to be explored. Infiltrate the Metaverse to take back the desires that have been stolen and exploited!

Reminiscent of an underwater tunnel, the Velvet Room is a mysterious space—and so are its residents: a strange old man named Igor who warns the protagonist of a ruinous future and his female assistant, Merope. But with their help, you can strengthen and fuse Personas, manifestations of "another you." Acquire new Personas to grow individuals' desires and avoid a future of ruin!

Within Mementos exist fortresses called Palaces, manifested from others' warped desires. Their Rulers are those who have committed heinous deeds in the real world. To stop them and convince them to have a change of heart, you must steal the physical cores of their desire, Treasures, hidden within the depths of their Palaces. Deftly utilize Phantom Thief actions to brilliantly infiltrate Palaces and slip through various traps!

"Persona" refers to the alternate persona that lies within you—another "you" who materializes themselves in the form of mythical deities and demons possessing great power. Mementos is packed with Shadows, manifestations of certain individuals' desires to harm others. Only mighty Personas can stand up to their attacks. Face the true desires within yourself, awaken your Persona, and destroy them in grand fashion!
